It was incredibly enjoyable to joke around with these younger individuals about the wonders of being outgoing and asking questions when most people would shy away. Jonny Chin, I hope our paths cross again and we get to take that ride someday. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and your friends during our brief journey. I hope you all stay close for many years, as you all had such vibrant energy and a great sense of humor. This is one of my favorite episodes, not because of how it happened, but because of how I remember it. The energy of these kids was remarkable, something that can't be captured in a photo or audio. It's the silent breath a friend takes when they fear their friend might be rejected by a stranger, or the relieved smile when their quirky moments are embraced.
I often think of conversations like eating food, sometimes you want a few dried berries in your bread, or something sweet and spicy before bed. The staple that we provide in our wit and laughter often fades with time as we homoginize into a culture that wants consistancy and predictability so it can lump more on us to process. If your food doesn't require any thought to process then why would you expect the same manufactured media to be any different when you chew away in your daily conversations. Be different, digest in others differently when you share a piece of your mind with them, be the counter culture when everyone is digesting from a cardboard box.
