Encountering attractive women in their late 30s still working in retail and pursuing a doctor or a man in finance feels like stepping back to a time when "Pretty Woman" served as a motivational guide for life choices. The entire atmosphere is filled with a sense of desperation to be noticed and chosen, much like a 35-year-old retail worker waiting for the right man to transform her life, but in a modern context. These women are not uncommon in Scottsdale, AZ, yet listening to the men's perspective on this illusion reveals the sadness of women getting their hopes up. It's always intriguing to find oneself amidst a plot, but knowing the intentions of the other characters makes the whole scenario somewhat disheartening. It becomes a repetitive play, always with new actors bringing passion to a role destined to lose. This situation is reminiscent of the mother's hope in "Death of a Salesman" for a new pair of stockings for Christmas or her birthday, while I feel like the older brother, portrayed by John Malkovich. With a bitter resolve, I've stayed silent for years, fearing that speaking up might shatter a woman's sense of worth—someone like my mother. The audio is poor, and the conversation is somewhat dull. I want to share this reading, to convey the tone and desperation of aging women longing to be swept off their feet. In an era where men with swords are more common than the knights in shining armor these women dream of finding.
